How to draw Peter Parker/Spiderman with Captain America's Shield Step by Step

Hi everybody,
So I decide just to show you a step by step version of a spiderman I already drew. Everything would be the same except for the fact that the webs on his body I added that last. There is also going to be a youtube version of this here
Realize that the one different is I would not draw the webs until the end

 Start with the eyes and the head. The eyes are like two D's. Then trace over them. The head should not be super big.

 Add the left arm (leave room for the web if you want) make sure to add the black lines. There are not a lot of details so it is important that you add them.

Then do the other arm before the shield. It is also important to add the black lines the thick ones because that cuts off the webs.

Then add the body (it is a basic body shape) and the legs. Divide the boots and the legs as they are different colors

 Add the spider and the webs. The webs are just vertical lines with u shapes in between. The spider is two circles, the bottom one bigger, with two lines at each corner

 Add the shield. You might want to use a circular object to trace it. Make sure to add the star

Lastly add the flying web. This is simple it is two long lines with two little lines at different places on the web

 It should look something like this. For the webs on the body as well as the one he is holding you can put them in any shape and add as few or as many as you would like

While this is not the same drawing I though it might help some people to see a version that is colored in. Notice the shield and the silver should be a little bigger. As you can also see, you can add a square or some sort of platform to show the roof spiderman is landing on.

22 Tips on How to Draw Superheroes

Hi everybody,
I just want to tell you that I put a lot of thought into to this post but it will be very long. I am going to be using some pictures and links. Also I will talk about this more but the link to my youtube page where I will be putting up some superhero stuff is right here.
Okay for me one of the best coping is drawing and one of my favorite things to draw is superheroes. For a lot of people with mental illness superheroes are great because it puts them in a different world. So here are a bunch of tips that I have to help you succeeding in drawing superheroes. I am going to later try to do some step by step things and post them to my youtube page.

1. Draw superheroes you like: Unless you are making it for a client or something draw superheroes that you like to draw 
2. There are so many ways to learn how to draw them: Whether it is using step by step instructions like cartooning4kids, a book (Stan Lee has made a lot of books on how to draw his characters) or just a google image there are so many ways to draw characters. 
3. They don't have to be perfect: I am called the imperfect artist for a reason. If you are using this as a coping skill the goal is to help you relax not to put pressure on you. 
4. There are pros and cons to every type of material: Obviously but...
5. Especially paint pens: So first of all most paint pens do not have a lot of different shades. So therefore some drawings will end up like this ( the drawing is above to the right). So there is a lot of gold in this drawing I didn't want that. However I wanted to show all the lines that are black. But I only have one black paint pen so this is the best I could do. Also paint pens often are very hard to do specific details. For example I will be posting two projects I have been working on in the next few days 
6. I would start with pencil: You can still trace over it after. Even when I do paint pens I start with pencil first. 
7. Also start with paper not canvas: There is one reason for this: Paper is way cheaper 
8. Practice, practice practice: If you look at the first Hulk drawings I did they are by no means great. But I worked on them until they got better
9. Understand scale. I am going to show you two drawings I did of scarlet witch 
   
     I personally like the one on the left better. I drew that one first. But I also drew the head too big so I drew the one on the right as a full body drawing. It is also so important to understand details. In the drawing on the left there is a lot less body which means the part I did draw has to be a lot more detailed. Also sometimes it is just really hard if you don't know the scale the best example of this would be with Mr. Fantastic where his long arms need to be drawn correctly
10. Google images is your best friend: So search Captain America civil war in google images right now. You will find so many different posters or promotional pictures that you can try to draw or use to inspire you.
11. Superheroes change so much that = less pressure on you: So because superheroes are comics they change a lot over the years therefore things do not have to be perfect
12. If it is not though add things to make it obvious who it is: Captain America's Shield, Antman's antennas, flash's lighting. Those are 3 examples of things that would show who that character was. For this project I am doing my war machine is not the best so I added the 003 on his arms I added different features to show who it was. In general adding color will  help show who the character is. 
13. There are so many projects you can do: This is one of the things that I enjoy the most. There are so many superheroes that you can draw and so many projects. Maybe you draw a brand (Marvel, DC) maybe you draw a group (Avengers, Guardians of The Galaxy, X-Men). Maybe you draw lots of superheroes. You can also do a superhero sketchbook or just try to draw as many superheroes as possible. One of the advantages of google images is you can also do this project very easily: One superhero in every suit the have worn. For example here is spiderman
    
     sorry I couldn't make it bigger but the point is that would take a while. Oh another option would be to do chibi (mini) superheroes. Once again Cartooning 4 kids has a lot of those
14. Go with the flow and finish drawings even if they are not your best: Finishing drawings even when they are not great allow you to learn and work on things. 
    
    I figured out pretty quickly that this drawing of the Thing was too fat (Fantastic four just gives me trouble) but I finished it so I could say I drew it and could know what to do differently.
15.    Sometimes they even come out better than you thought. Below is a picture of iceman. I made his legs blue and at first I did not like it but by the time I finished drawing I loved the way that it turned out.

16. Understand the mediums: Also with drawing superheroes in different suits there are different mediums. So for this new project that I will be posting I drew hawkeye and it doesn't look like Jeremy Renner at all. So it is a cartoon version. The movies have given people a lot of options on how to draw characters (especially movies like spiderman where there seems to always be a new one). So if a drawing doesn't come out right it might look like that character just from a different time or medium
17. Draw them how you like: This is a drawing of spiderman from the new civil war movie. I love him with Captain America's shield. But some people might now. Draw characters the way you like them 
    
18. When you can keep them simple: Drawing characters with all the lines are hard. So realize you don't have to add every last detail. 
19. If you aren't the best at drawing faces you can practice by drawing things like caricatures like this one of Chadwick Boseman shown here. Practicing this will give you better facial features in your drawings. Also by drawing them big with more detail it will be easier to draw them smaller with less detail
20. Know your strengths and weaknesses: If you are much better at details and not good at faces draw characters with masks. That would include: Spiderman, Batman, Iron Man, Antman and Black Panther among many others. Likewise...
21. If you are less good with details draw characters with faces: Scarlet witch, Haweye, Black Widow and Mr. Fantastic are all examples of this. The one exception: Vision, who has no mask but still a lot of details. 
22. Lastly, have fun with it: Especially if you are using this as a coping skill it is important to enjoy it. Don't stress over every itty bitty detail and just draw.

Why Use a Tutorial

So you have access to so many pictures and your imagination and everything around you. You can draw whatever you want. So why would you use a tutorial? You are just copying someone else. Well I am here today to tell you why it might be helpful.

• It is easier for some people: Do you remember in school when you would get an assignment with no structure? Half the kids would cheer but the other half would complain. Some people need direction and this is easier for them.
• It is easier: You are just listening and drawing.
• It is quicker: You don't have to find the picture you are told what to do.
• Maybe you are struggling: So superhero masks are hard. Maybe you use a tutorial to learn them
• To develop your own style: Everyone has their own style but it takes a while
• To learn: This is the most obvious reason you are learning how to do it.
• Lastly, it is more fun: Everyone likes success and this is a guarantee that it is a  success. 

Realize that even when you use tutorials that is a guideline. It is still your drawing.

Caricature Face Parts

So one day I decided to draw some different eyes, noses, mouths and teeth, that I use on caricatures here they are and I hope they help.

Tutorial Tips: Team Stark

Okay so I drew both teams from Captain America: Civil War (i know it won't probably be who is on both teams) So I have done a bunch of drawings that I don't think I could repeat exactly but I want to give some tips so I am starting a new section called tutorial tips. Remember that these are just guidelines and I would say yours should not look like a carbon copy of mine. Make it yours.
Okay Here is Team Stark. A lot of the things said on my Team Rogers post about details and such apply for this one too.

The top picture has: Spiderman, Black Panther, Agent Romanov, and Maria Hill on the first page. Iron Man and War Machine are on the next page

1. So as you can see I could not even fit everyone into one picture. These take a lot of time to draw. Vision, War Machine and Iron Man specifically have markings and Spiderman has his webs. 
2. Most of the other non specific tips are in my Team Rogers Tutorial

Okay here are specifics

1. Spiderman: Add the webs at the end. I saw the trailer and loved when he had Captain america's shield so I added that. Add the webs on him at the end
2. Black Panther (which is below the Spiderman): There are details all over the body. Also remember that he is not human so a lot of the body parts are different. 
3. Black Widow: Have fun with the hair, just go with it. Very similar to Maria Hill.
4. Maria Hill: I picked to use a SHIELD uniform.
5. Iron Man: Be careful with all the lines. Add the details because otherwise it doesn't look as complete.
6. War Machine: Use your Iron Man drawing and see Iron Man tips above.
7. Vision: Add the stone on his forehead, add the cape at the end realize if you make a small face you will need to be precise with the details.

Tutorial Tips: Team Rogers

Okay here is Team Rogers

Okay so you see Antman, Scarlet Witch, Hawkeye and Falcon on the first page. Bucky, Sharon Carter and Captain America. If you check out my website The Imperfect Artist you will see some bigger drawings of these guys so here are some tips. Some will be for individual characters some will be for the drawing in general

1. Try to space out the project: So I draw big usually. So I had to space out the characters to figure out where to put each one. 
2. Make sure to add the key features: I drew them so it is a little not fair but I see the shield so that is Captain America. The bow and arrow must be hawkeye, energy must be scarlet witch, wings must be falcon and antennas must be antman. 
3. A little less detail: So I do not have great fine motor skills so I really tried to ptu in details. But these are not close up drawings therefore you don't need every detail.
4. Cartoon vs Movie: So I am a quick drawer. Therefore most of what I do is cartoon. However some people might prefer making them look like the actors.
5. I would start big first for the most part: Once you have drawn something big and know where the details are then it is easier to draw it small.
6. Have fun with Sharon Carter: So you should have fun with all these characters but Sharon Carter has not been in a movie yet. So while the actress has been seen in pictures it gives you more creative leeway. 

Okay here are some tips for each character

1. Antman: Make sure you have the antennas. Make the details especially the torso simple. Work on the mask
2. Scarlet Witch: Add the energy balls it is such an easy thing that adds a really cool effect. Also, I said this with my scarlet witch tutorial tips but adding jewelry details is a next touch.
3. Hawkeye: Use layers, draw the bow before the hand.  Opposite of antman in that most of his details are in his torso. 
4. Falcon: Divide the wings into 3 parts and make sure the wings go under the arms. This one could take a while has a lot of detail.
5. Bucky Barnes: Use the same star that you use  on Captain America's shield. This one should be simple. 
6. Sharon Carter: She is not Scarlet Witch's twin. Be creative
7. Captain America: I would suggest either going real or cartoon. Add the things that Captain America is known for (the A on his mask, the star on his chest and the shield.)

Tutorial Tips: Captain America Civil War and half faces

So this is a Daniel original so if you want to draw something like this here are some tips

Okay here are some tips

1. Draw both sides of the head together. Meaning when you are drawing Captain America's eye draw Iron Man's eye. It gives you a pretty even level
2. They do not have to be the exact same size: So if you are drawing one of these with hair one of their hairstyles might be bigger they don't have to line up perfectly. 
3. Make the differences distinct. So I emphasized things like the A in Captain America's mask and the wings because those are things Iron Man doesn't have. 
4. Just go with it: This is something that you just have to try and see what happens

My First Step By Step Tutorial: How to draw a cheetah cub

So today I will show you how to draw a basic cheetah cub. I started in pencil and finished in pen. There is also a slide show version How to draw a cheetah cub slide show

Remember that this is just a way to help it is not the end all be all. Always add your own twists and realize that it doesn't have to be perfect. Hope this helps!

Step 1: Draw the top of the head

 Step 2: Add basic ear shape, they should be more round than triangular

 Step 3: Finish off the head it should not be completely circular and add lines in the ears

Step 4: Add the eyes. I did my Daniel eyes

 Step 5: Add small eyebrows, stripes to make a middle with dots in between them, and two black stripes on each side of the eye one smaller than the other

 Step 6: Add a nose (it should look similar to the head shape), add nostrils and connect the bottom of the nose to the top of the near black stripe.

 Step 7: Put a line under the nose, add a square mouth, a tongue, which should be like a upside down M. Add a bottom lip/tooth.

 Step 8: Add dots in the area on side part of nose and draw whiskers

Step 9: Draw a basic body shape you should draw the front legs first and then use that to draw the back legs

 Step 10: Also add a tail

Last step: Add in hair ( I added a little on the ears and then around the body), trace over in pen and clean up some things (for me the big thing was the nose and whiskers) color in whatever you choose. Lastly, add dots (stripes on the tail). The dots should be different sizes and you can add as many or as few as you want.
Some other tutorial tips

1. If you want some help with the body check out my video How to draw prototype cat body
2. There is no specific amount of dots or whiskers that need to be drawn
3. Have fun with it 

Tutorial Tips: Marvel's Wasp

So I have done a bunch of drawings that I don't think I could repeat exactly but I want to give some tips so I am starting a new section called tutorial tips. Remember that these are just guidelines and I would say yours should not look like a carbon copy of mine. Make it yours.

So this one is Marvel's Wasp from Antman To help I also posted the picture that I mostly used.

Okay so here are some tips

1. I did not use a full body if you want to do a movie version it might be hard to find.
2. Realize that Wasp in the costume will look different that just a costume. 
3. I really tried to keep this simple. I would suggest thing if you are trying to do your first Marvel costume 
4. Look at Antman's costume as well. There are some clear similarities. 
5. I really tried to keep the wings similar they should only consist of a few lines 
6. Start with the head and build down
7. Add the easy details like the extra knob on the ears and the accessories on the wrists. 
8. Add your own little spark. This is just an interpretation. 
9. Have fun with it.

Tutorial Tips: Sonny Gray caricature

So I have done a bunch of drawings that I don't think I could repeat exactly but I want to give some tips so I am starting a new section called tutorial tips. Remember that these are just guidelines and I would say yours should not look like a carbon copy of mine. Make it yours.

One of my favorite athletes is pitcher Sonny Gray. So I drew a caricature of him. Please realize that I combine my sports memorabilia collection so the autograph card is not part of the drawing

So looking at the photo I used I picked 3 things that stood out

• He has a pretty small round head 
• Ironically there wasn't that much that stood out but I picked some things like I wanted to give him a smile 
• Eyebrows

Here are some other tips

1. For me at least baseball caps are hard. So for some caricatures of baseball players I put in there hair. However, like anything else it takes practice
2. For logos do it in any style you want. So I just put the nike logo and the A's log but those are not things everyone would put
3. Have your special touch to it. For example I always put in a Adam's Apple if I am doing a neck and I always put the team name on the jersey. 
4. Put your ears in early otherwise they are kind of hard to add
5. Lastly, the chin is not supposed to be like that. You should try to put it in the middle. But if you make a msitake you can even it out by making it look like he is looking towards the direction of the chin.

Tutorial Tips: Scarlet Witch

So I have done a bunch of drawings that I don't think I could repeat exactly but I want to give some tips so I am starting a new section called tutorial tips. Remember that these are just guidelines and I would say yours should not look like a carbon copy of mine. Make it yours. This time I am showing scarlet witch from the avengers.

Okay so here are some tips for drawing this (one of my favorite drawings)

1. With Falcon I said don't focus on the details. With Scarlet Witch I say the opposite. Compared to a lot of superheroes (Ultron, Loki, Iron Man, Vision among others) Scarlet Witch doesn't have that many details. The earrings, jewelry, sleeve placement and coat should all be in there. As well as the rings.
2. Try with the hands: So I used a specific picture but it is really cool when the fingers look bent and such.
3. Keep the hair simple. Drawing for me is about keeping it simple and emphasizing the details used. So I emphasize the hair line divide but I didn't put anything really odd in the hair. 
4. Know your proportions but be flexible: So I was going to do a whole body but I drew the head to big. But when I saw how much I liked it I didn't try to squeeze the legs in.
5. The energy makes this drawing: The little circles around her hands. Well it the movies she releases energy. Adding that adds a really cool touch.

Tutorial Tips: Marvel's Falcon

So I have done a bunch of drawings that I don't think I could repeat exactly but I want to give some tips so I am starting a new section called tutorial tips. So here is my first one this is Falcon from Marvel the Avengers (movie version)

Okay here are my tips

1. So realize that on Falcons uniform there are lots of little interstices so I focused on a few things.  The shoulder area, his hand/glove area, his glasses, and his torso. But realize that especially if you are like me (a quick drawer) you will not get all the lines. 
2. To me his face should be focused on three areas: His mustache, which is basic, his glasses make sure to look at the frames of them and the middle as they are detailed, and the nose which is connected to the glasses.
3. On his gloves there is supposed to be  line on top of the fingers
4. The wings can be difficult the key is to realize that after the top there should be 3 sections. 
5. His pants should be bigger than his torso
6. Remember to add as many of the buttons as you can as they are just dots but show a lot of detail
7. Not a lot of hair 
8. Make sure the wings go under the arms 
9. His boots have a part on the back
10.  Realize that especially if you start in pen that this will not be perfect on the first try. After all I am the imperfect artist
