Hi everybody this is for any parent or friend or family member who has someone with mental illness.
You can pay for every appointment, give every gift and brag about how much you help with money. That doesn't mean that you are being that helpful. It will NEVER EVER replace emotional support that people so desperately need.
This blog is to spread mental health awareness through creativity and to show people that they don't have to be perfect. So I hope this makes a positive impact on people. I will also be posting my drawings here

Thing of The Day: I am just in a mood
I just want to reiterate from my article yesterday. Anything can be done with passion and especially if you have something like BPD don't be afraid to put your emotion in what you do. Hey that means you are using your emotions in a positive way. Have a great first day of summer

Thing of The Day: Having Fun
Things, this blog included, are always so serious. So today on a Saturday, watch a game or a TV show, do a project, go and take a walk. Skills are great but sometimes the best remedy is to just have fun and not worry about anything. I know that this is easier said than done

Some art, thoughts and what I have been up to
Hi everybody. So this is one of the more important articles that I have done in a while
So the reason I haven't been posting as much (as well as some of my drawings not looking as good) is because I am taking a drawing class. It is just drawing 1.
It is 4 hours. The longest class I have had before this is an hour and 15 minutes. After the first day I wanted to quit. I also found out the class was mostly still life drawings.
But things take time. I am getting better with the length. We have been doing a drawing project in class and this is what I have drawn (there are yams and garlic)
I was also learning how to use different materials on this. I used graphite sticks on the first yam, vine charcoal on the third, and charcoal in the middle.
So today we did a critiquing session. I picked the garlic drawing as the one to show to the class. Everybody else's drawing looked so much more refined. To me mine looked like a bull in a China shop.
But when we got to mine I got a pleasant surprise. I was told how good my drawing was. The sizing was near perfect and while the drawing was different than most of the other ones it truly showed me and it had character.
A lot of the difference were due to mental stuff. I draw with emotion but more than that I am impulsive and have a fast brain. Therefore, especially with the unforgiving charcoal I wasn't sure if the drawings looked good. But, they did.
So the point I am trying to make is remember, whether you have mental illness or not but especially if you do, that being different does not mean being bad. It might just be your style and don't change your way just to make it like everybody else's. These drawings are very much me.
I would love to know what people think as these are really the first still-life drawings I have ever done.

Thing of The Day: My Project I have Been Working On
So I have been working on a mini canvas project. Everyone knows I love superheroes and really liked it. It is based on this promotional work

Okay there are going to be a lot of pictures just warning you and then some notes on the bottom. I was only going to do Black Panther but after the results I decided to do all 12 characters
Black Panther
Part of me wanted to do a Sharon Carter poster as well. But there was no match on the other side. Also she was not on the original poster.
I think for mental health it should be reminded that things don't have to be perfect and let your creative juices flower.
I have done lot of Captain America Civil War art. Don't expect that change. Anyway I hope you enjoy this

Black Panther
Scarlet Witch
Ant-man
Vision
Black Widow
Hawkeye
Winter Soldier
Falcon
War Machine
Iron Man
Captain America
Spiderman
Okay here are the face to face shots (I picked who looked at who but there was a reason)
Vision and Scarlet Witch
Black Panther and Scarlet Witch (these are just the first two I have drew)
Hawkeye and Black Widow
Bucky Barnes and Black Panther
Falcon and War Machine
Steve Rogers and Tony Stark
Antman and Spiderman
Okay and here is the full version I lined it up like a star
All of them
Some notes
This is the first time I have draw faces from a side-view
When these posters came out spiderman was not in them. So I made that one using others promo art. Also I realized I couldn't spell out his full names so I used webs to be like the name was falling and the webs are being used to keep them out
I was surprised by how good the vision came out. Obviously I didn't have the perfect color (as is true for many of them). This is true for other things too like Black Widow's hair
Their posters all of them say divided we fall. However on the big poster it says united we stand on team Roger's side. So I hope it gave some perspective
I know they don't all look perfect (specifically Iron Man looks more like Chuck Norris, Hawkeye like Peyton Manning and Ant-man like Bill Hader)
I think the three best were Vision, Falcon and Black Panther
I used gold for the star so you could see it but I obviously the stars are not perfect.Part of me wanted to do a Sharon Carter poster as well. But there was no match on the other side. Also she was not on the original poster.

Why Using Drawing Tutorials Is Great
So I have tried to make my own style. So why would I want to use a tutorial?
Well because if I am using this as a skill you want success. I realized how similar mine are to chibi. So I should just draw what I want.
To me the key is adding your own little touches to the tutorials. For example I am going to be doing superheroes soon and probably using cartooning4kids chibi heroes. But the eyes will still be made my way.
If you want your drawing to be good and you think a tutorial helps I would say go for it

My style drawings in my superhero sketchbook (kind of)
Hi everybody,
So I have tried my style in drawing. However I decided anything that is my style can be in my superhero sketchbook. These drawings are not perfect, they are sketches especially since I did them with no pencil first. I hope you enjoy them
Yondu from Guardians of the Galaxy the little thing is that arrow. His mouth is supposed to be whistling
So after doing all these superheroes none of them seem to smile so I had to do someone like joy who lights up a room

Canvases
So I have also done two canvases
There were two new characters in Civil War. I always liked to do half heads. So this is half black panther half spiderman. All of black panther's lines are in silver so that you can see them.
I really liked the promo art for civil war. So I did Chadwick Boseman ( I think I am going to do all of them though) from one of the promos. As said there is a lot of cool art and I might try making some of my own

Why I Love Drawing Superheroes
So as everyone probably knows I love drawing superheroes. One quick thing first I will be mentioning the new captain America movie I am not giving away anything but I will be mentioning one fact. Also the end of this article goes on a big of a tangent.
I draw superheroes in sketchbooks. On canvases. I draw them big and small and in every way possible. This is mindfulness to me.
Mindfulness is the ability to keep yourself distracted but also in the state of thinking about one thing and just what is going on in that moment. It is another one of those coping skills that is much easier said than done.
I tried everything. But, drawing is what is mindfulness but in particular superheroes and I am 96.6% sure I know why.
So a lot of kids who were bullied or don't have self esteem turn to superheroes. They are in a world that is very hard and they want to get out of it.
I did for sure. I will save the details but my family life was never easy. When I lived in Chicago (by the way I lived right near where the movie mean girls is based) there was a comic book store. I can remember going in there every weekend I could because it got me away from everything else.
It is no exception now. There have been times where I am literally just drawing superheroes and beep I hear my phone and I forgot it was even there. It is the greatest feeling in the world. It really is. I can go into a different world where none of my problems exsist and it's not avoiding them it is fighting back by ynot letting them get to me. If you are around your problems all the time life is even harder than usual.
But I think there is one other reason

But I think there is one other reason
This is Tom Holland. He is actually 19 but he plays Peter Parker aka Spiderman in the movie. Like in other comics he tries to hide his powers at first. I also hid a lot when I was younger. If you look at Holland he is not bachelor of the year or the macho man.
That more than anything is what I love about superheroes. Both in real life and in the books they have problems just like everybody else. These superheroes aren't always popular or they are fighting for things. Heck in real life this is true. Robert Downey Jr, the poster boy for Marvel, had a lot of drug problems. Chris Evans suipports LGBT rights but he grew up Catholic so I am not if his family supports him on this. Mark Ruffalo is a huge advocate fot things particularly water supply that is healthy. My point is these people realize the world is not perfect and neither are they. But they are trying,
That is what I am doing too. Sure I am not advocating to Barack Obama but I have troubles the world has troubles. I admit and I am trying to make them both a better place,
I understand that celebrities are big deals but I think we also need to see that they do normal things. Maybe they do them with a bigger influence but they still do them.

My first comic
Hi everybody so I drew my first comic "strip" today. It was actually on a five by seven canvas panel and I learned that drawing people small is really hard for me. This is something everyone can relate to but especially people with BPD or anyone who has a problem with negative self talk
So just so everybody can read it. The top says different does not equal freak. The first two characters say I am a freak and then the second character says no you aren't silly ducky. Then the second part is her punching out the bad thoughts and worries and while this was totally an accident everything gets bigger showing an increase in confidence. It was her idea for me to draw comics in general (I came up with this specific one) but all the words are from her as I asked what I should say if I am thinking I am a freak.
First I want to say this is easier said then done. I also have to give a shout out to one of my best friends. While she doesn't punch me literally she is always lifting me up.
For people with BPD most of you know how hard it is not to say bad things about yourself. Also, a lot of people with BPD have problems with extreme. Just remember that being different does not make you a freak. It might make you more amazing. Also realize that thoughts are not always valid. Again I know this is so much harder in the moment. But it is so important too. I hope this helps people even if it is just getting through a bad time. Even it it is just laughing at how weird these characters look. Have a great night and tomorrow I have a really cool article planned explaining why I love drawing superheroes.

That Project I was talking about
So I had said I had been working on something. It did not come out as well as I liked but here it is with a little info about each character and some observations. This was all done in paint pen
Almost everyone of these characters has an issue. Paint pen is hard because like for example with Scarlet witch there was not the right color nor were there for any of the agents (Sharon Carter, Black widow or Hawkeye) also scale make it very hard.
So a lot of the details couldn't be made. Scale was annoying so you might think I didn't enjoy doing this.
Yet at the same time this is called the imperfect artist and I did something that I didn't think I could do. I hope that people enjoy these I really do because honestly I had a great time making this there are a lot of imperfections yet the fact is these are still probably recognizable for the most part. They almost look like a line of giveaway items or mini action figures. But I also think when it comes to superheroes I will stick to drawing for a while without paint pens.
Just remember though that you have to try to do something before you know whether it works or not.
